The Write Treatment Workshops
Rubin founded the Write Treatment Workshops in 2011 after undergoing treatment for breast cancer at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. The workshops offer writing instruction and time to write for anyone affected by cancer--patients, survivors and care givers are all welcome. Empathy and the mysteries of emotions, details of the senses, cause and effect, will focus the writing. With the onset of the pandemic, the workshops moved to a virtual platform allowing people from all over to join. The workshops are funded by Poets & Writers Readings and Workshops Program, Mount Sinai/Beth Israel and the NYOH Community Cancer Foundation.

WRITE THAT STORY!
Rubin offers the WRITE THAT STORY! workshops in-person at libraries, community centers, and in her cozy writing studio in Ancram, NY. This workshop is designed and open to seasoned and aspiring writers looking to jumpstart a new project or work on one already in progress. All genres are welcome. All stories are inspired by life experience or something in the real or uncanny world of the imagination that fascinates and tweaks a writer's curiosity. The sessions are designed to exercise your writing muscles with inventive storytelling through in-class and weekly writing prompts and close readings of literary fiction, memoir, fables, visual imagery, poetry, and science to conjure the internal and external conflicts of our characters.
